Today's the day, the day to bake! It's currently Sunday the 11th, it's almost 2pm and I am kind of dressed but I'm not looking very glam, I nipped out with my sister and I wasn't quite ready for the comfy pyjamas to tight clothes change, so I met half way and threw on some joggers and a creased t shirt.

| My delightful clothing choice. (Could be considered making effort for me) |
It is now 3PM, I was hoping to have baked cake, drank several cups of tea and photographed it all by now! But no flour as yet been poured and the eggs are still waiting to be cracked, I have had to push back my baking time as the dinner has been taking over the oven all afternoon! At this point I've made myself look a bit more presentable and got out of my comfy clothes.
4PM rolled around and I began to put the cake together, now I could count the amount of times I've made a cake on one hand, so I knew there wasn't going to be anything amazing coming out of the kitchen by the end of it but I was going to try my best!
The cake was in, not looking so... cakey, though! I mean, the flan tray didn't help. While waiting for the cake, the cake that I forgot to set a timer for should I mention.. Me and my mum practiced using the icing and also made buttercream, now maybe it was a little silly of me to forget to sieve the icing sugar into the butter but I did, of course, forget and we had to deal with some rather lumpy buttercream but it turned out ok!
Now the time in-between getting the cake out of the oven to dusting it with icing sugar at the end was not very pleasant.
Tip: If mistakes are made, dust a lot of icing sugar over cake.. disguises bad job while looking pretty, kind of.
| As you can see the mistake of opening the oven was made! |
Now at this point it looks like it just needs sausages in the middle and a jug of gravy tipping over it!
After some construction work was done we managed to make it look more appetising.
This photo here is a great example of how a bit of editing and a good camera angle can help out, turning the cake upside down did also help out.. although this isn't how I initially planned it to look at least it didn't look like a Yorkshire pudding anymore!
Despite it sinking it the middle, it was still very yummy and my family enjoyed it too! Now it's almost 9PM and I'm back in my comfy clothes, makeup is off and I'm in bed, I plan on finishing up this post then watching a film, maybe with cup of tea and another slice of cake! :D
I haven't done much today other than keep up to date with everyone online but I have enjoyed it and thank you to the people who responded to my photo on twitter, reassuring me that the cake didn't look as bad as I thought! I hope every has had a enjoyable #bluesunday and been able to stay awake throughout the day, thanks to Anna for creating this virtual gathering!
I am now well and truly exhausted and I feel like my eyeballs are being poked as I write this, so I must go!
'till next time xx
